Overlooking San Clemente pier, this 1928 estate was the home of the city’s founder, Ole Hanson. Mission San Juan Capistrano, the Birthplace of Orange County, was founded more than two hundred years ago. Today it is a monument to California' multi-cultural history, embracing its Native American, Spanish, Mexican and European heritage.

The Pilgrim is a full size replica of the hide brig immortalized by Richard Henry Dana, Jr. in his American seafaring classic novel Two Years Before the Mast. Today the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park is a public zoological garden occupying a unique urban site in the heart of Orange County. Situated on approximately 20 acres, it hosts more than 270,000 people annually.

ZOOMARS is home to hundreds of friendly animals to feed, pet, love and learn from. There are goats, emus, llamas, donkeys, alpacas, sheep, geese, ducks, guinea pigs and a bunny patch. After petting the animals, youngsters can saddle up for a pony ride or hop aboard the miniature train. At the front of the property is the century-old Olivares House, listed on the National Registry. Behind it sits an 1890’s bathhouse and picnic area available for birthday parties or family gatherings.

Surfers come from all over the world to experience Trestles. The 3½-mile-long beach has several separate surf breaks: Uppers, Middles and Lowers. Trestles is named after the old railroad bridge near the entrance to the beach. To get to the beach you will have to walk about a mile from the parking lot down a winding paved trail. Visitors will enjoy some of the last undeveloped coastal area in Southern California. San Mateo creek lagoon is directly behind the beach and during winter rains washes sand and rocks out to sea helping to create the perfect surf break. There are trails along the bluff where you can take in wonderful views of the coastline. Trains run frequently along the track so take great caution when crossing. Portable bathrooms are available but anything else you might need will have to be carried in. Trestles is a fun place to surf, sun or just hike along the beach.

San Onofre State Beach is comprised of four sub-units on over 3,000 acres of land along the beautiful and historic northern coast of San Diego County. In 1971, the State of California leased the area from the U.S. Marine Corps. in order to provide visitors with outstanding beaches, fascinating geography and a wetlands natural preserve for interpretation and recreation. The four units are open year-round and include: the San Onofre Bluffs Campground, the San Mateo Campground, the Trestles Beach and San Mateo Wetlands Natural Preserve and the San Onofre Surf Beach.
